Project Planning & Process

  • How do I get started with a kitchen or bathroom remodel?

Simply contact us to schedule a free in-home consultation or visit our showroom to discuss your ideas, budget, and timeline. One of our design consultants will guide you through the process from concept to installation.

  • What’s involved in a cabinet refacing project?

Cabinet refacing involves replacing the existing door and drawer fronts with new, custom-built fronts. Fronts can be custom stained or painted to match the existing cabinet finish or pick any style or color faces and the cabinetry can be resurfaced in wood, laminate or paint to match. Existing cabinetry can be made to look & function like new with the addition of soft-close drawers, slide-out trays, roll-out waste containers, etc. Cabinet refacing can be accomplished in a fraction of the time, at a fraction of the cost of complete replacements.

  • How long does a typical remodel take?

Project timelines vary based on size & scope of the project. Smaller updates can take just a few days, while larger kitchen or bathroom remodels may take several weeks. We’ll provide an estimated timeline during your consultation.

Costs & Payments

  • How much will my remodel cost?

Costs depend on the scale of your project, materials chosen, and design complexity. We offer a free estimate in writing with detailed pricing. Contact us to schedule your consultation.

  • How do I know if my cabinets are good candidates for refacing?

Cabinets are ideal for refacing if the box structure is solid and in good condition. Schedule a free consultation to have our team assess your specific situation.

  • Can refacing improve the functionality of my cabinets?

Yes! While refacing primarily updates appearance, you can also upgrade cabinet functionality during the process by adding soft-close hinges, full-extension drawers, pull-out shelves, Lazy Susans, and other accessories to make your kitchen or bathroom more user-friendly.

  • What’s the difference between cabinet resurfacing and cabinet refacing?

Cabinet resurfacing typically refers to applying a new veneer, paint or laminate finish over existing cabinet surfaces, to match the replacement doors & drawer fronts, and finishing them to match the existing cabinet frames. Both options refresh your cabinets.

Cabinet Refacing FAQs – Homeowners

About Refacing vs. Replacement

  • What is cabinet refacing and how is it different from replacing my cabinets?

Cabinet refacing means keeping your existing cabinet boxes and replacing only the visible parts (doors, drawer fronts, finishes, hardware), giving your kitchen or bath a fresh, updated look without a full tear-out. It’s faster and more cost-effective than a full replacement.

  • How do I know if my cabinets are a good candidate for refacing?

Cabinets should be structurally sound (no major warping or moisture damage) for refacing to be worth it. If the boxes are solid and you like the layout, refacing can be a great update option.

Cost & Value Questions

  • Is refacing really cheaper than new cabinets?

In most cases, yes—refacing is usually significantly less expensive than full cabinet replacement because you keep the existing structure and only update the visible surfaces. Refacing cabinets does not require replacement of countertops, flooring or wall treatments, although we do provide all of above services.

Process, Timeline, & Practical’s

  • How long does a cabinet refacing project take in SE Wisconsin?

Many refacing jobs can be completed in just a few days (often 2-5 days, depending on kitchen size and customization), which is much faster than a full remodel. Because refacing keeps your existing cabinet boxes and doesn’t require removing appliances or countertops, the process is typically less disruptive to your daily routine.

  • Will cabinet refacing disrupt my daily life?

It’s far less disruptive than a full kitchen remodel since walls and major structures aren’t removed, and most work can be done with minimal mess and downtime. Appliances are typically left in place so you may use them during the remodel.

Local Considerations

  • Can refacing work well in older Wisconsin homes?

Yes! Cabinet refacing can preserve historic character while modernizing look and functionality. Older homes typically have solid wood custom-built cabinetry vs the partial board construction so common today in replacement cabinets.

  • What design options are popular for Wisconsin kitchens when refacing?

Wisconsin homeowners often choose from a wide range of styles & finishes, including shaker classic raised panel & contemporary flat panels styles. Painted finishes have become increasingly popular due to the limitless color options.
